Three Michigan football commits earned prestigious honors last week.
Four-star receiver A.J. Henning (Lincoln-Way East, Illinois), four-star running back Blake Corum (St. Frances Academy, Maryland) and four-star linebacker Kalel Mullings (Milton Academy, Massachusetts) were each named Gatorade Player of the Year in their respective states.
Henning, Michigan’s top-ranked commit in the 2020 class, had 28 total touchdowns in 2019, including a 56-yard touchdown run in the team’s Class 8A state championship. He is the 19th-ranked receiver in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game on Jan. 4.
Corum, the Wolverines' third-highest ranked 2020 commit, rushed for 1,438 yards and 22 touchdowns on 172 carries, leading his team to an 11-1 record and a No. 4 national ranking by MaxPreps. Corum, the No. 12 running back in the class, also caught 13 passes for 226 yards and three scores. He is committed to play in the 2020 Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 2.
Mullings, Massachusetts' top-ranked player, starred on both sides of the ball for 8-1 Milton Academy. He is the fourth-highest ranked player in Michigan's 2020 class and the No. 13 outside linebacker in the country.
Overall, Michigan has 24 commitments from the 2020 class. It is ranked 13th in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten. Most of the class is expected to sign during the early signing period Dec. 18-20. The Wolverines also are looking to add a few more players to the class, including four-star quarterback C.J. Stroud (California, four-star tight end Theo Johnson (Ontario) and four-star cornerback Darion Green-Warren (California).
