Bloomer, Biegalski, and Rhodes earn All-America accolades - WKOW

The Wisconsin women’s soccer trio of Jordyn Bloomer, Camryn Biegalski and Dani Rhodes earned United Soccer Coaches All-America honors on Thursday as Bloomer was named a first-team All-American while Biegalski and Rhodes earned second-team accolades.

This marks the most All-American honors in a single season for Wisconsin in program history. Bloomer is the second goalkeeper to receive first-team honors in program history, following Heather Taggart in 1990 and 1991. Wisconsin now has six first-team All Americans and 11 second-team All Americans.

“I think it’s a great honor for our program,” head coach Paula Wilkins said. “It’s not just a reflection of these individuals and their performance, but the success of our program. I’m excited for them because of the hard work and improvement they’ve made over the last couple of years to achieve these honors.”

All three Badgers received Big Ten postseason awards at the end of the regular season, with Bloomer as Goalkeeper of the Year, Biegalski as Defender of the Year, and Rhodes as Forward of the Year. Earlier this week, they all earned All-North Region First Team honors.

Bloomer was the backbone to Wisconsin’s sweet 16 run this season, logging 12 shutouts and 68 saves in goal. The Hartland, Wisconsin native led UW to an undefeated record in Big Ten conference play.

Biegalski was a huge asset on defense for the Badgers, starting every game this year. The Lombard, Illinois native logged three assists and 10 shots in the 2019 season.

During her senior season, Rhodes logged 30 points, consisting of 13 goals and four assists, and added nine game-winners for the Badgers. Rhodes was the leading goal-scorer for Wisconsin, and she ranked third in the NCAA in game-winning goals this season.

The trio led Wisconsin to the Big Ten regular-season title thanks to an undefeated run in conference action. In addition, the Badgers advanced to the NCAA tournament for the fourth-straight season and made it to the Sweet 16 for the second-consecutive year.
